Alternative School

Children don't follow our words; they follow our actions. Jesper Juul

Fresh out of university, I was assigned to an independent (or "free") school for my first teaching internship in my first semester. If you had told me back then that this experience would have such a significant impact on my professional path, I hardly would have believed it.

In short: Teaching and daily life at independent schools are a bit different from what I had learned at university.

Luckily!

Six years later, after my first adventurous experiences during my studies, my journey led me to my current job: a small independent primary school in a green setting on the outskirts of Berlin.

There are moments in everyday life that deeply move me, challenge me, make me feel despair — and sometimes also make me smile a lot.

Here, I’d like to share a few impressions from my work and daily life with you.

They continually remind me how important relationship-building, genuine connection, and authentic interaction are.

Warm regards,J.
